Abundance

abundant

Abundance is, in large part, an attitude

Living an abundant is everyone’s dream. We all want to live a life in which we feel happy and fulfilled. As the quote at the beginning suggests, it’s all about attitude. Your attitude is something you have complete control over. Here are some tips to help you have the abundant life you have been searching for.

  1. Have abundance mentality. This is the mentality that there is enough  for everyone, so someone else’s gain isn’t your loss. By having abundance mentality you won’t feel jealous when someone else succeeds. You know you can have your own success.
  2. Be grateful for what you have. You need to look at what you have and stop complaining about what you don’t have. You can have a grateful spirit no matter how much or how little you have. There are people who need to go through a painful loss before they can see what they have. Don’t let that happen to you.
  3. Smile. So simple, yet so effective. Changing how when and how often you smile can impact and change the course of your day. Even if your day isn’t going as planned you can choose to respond positively. Smiling sends a positive message to yourself and others that you are winning at life.
  4. Start your day right. How you start your day will greatly influence how it goes. This looks different for everyone. For me it looks like this
    • Wake up
    • Exercise (four days a week)
    • Bible Readings and devotions
    • Organize for work
  5. Make the most out of every opportunity. Once you have an opportunity explore the full use of it. Don’t let it pass, half-used. Look for other ways to use it. Maybe combine it with something else to create a new opportunity.
  6. Enjoy your life. Living an abundant life means you should be able to enjoy your life without waiting on something big to happen. You can be happy right now with what you have.

I hope these steps will help you on your personal journey of feeling more empowered.

Brilliant

brilliant

What does is mean to be brilliant? How can you obtain it? Where do you start? I have 6 tips to help all women obtain this. Some women are content where they are, some want more. Both are okay, you don’t always have to work harder or longer. You can achieve your goals while being brilliant. You can stay home with your kids and be brilliant as well. Let’s dive into those tips.

  1. Keep a joy list, starting now. On a sheet of paper make two columns. On the left side write down everything you absolutely LOVE to do. Everything, in your life, career, whatever it may be. Build on it. On the right side, write down the things that you hate to do. Anything that gives you the feeling of ick.
  2. Make a plan and commit. Everyday do one less thing on your ick list, try outsourcing. Hire someone else to clean, an accountant to figure our your finances, eat out instead of cooking and cleaning up after the cooking.
  3. Write a list of people you love spending time with. These are the people who make you feel like life is fabulous. These are the people who give you permission to let your greatness shine. Try spending time with at least two of these people a week. Even if it is the same people every week, make sure you are spending time with them
  4. Get clear and honest about what you want. Write it down, communicate it to other people around you. Don’t forget to pray about. The power prayer has on out lives is undeniable. Ask God what is His Will, are you living it out or living the way the world tells you to live? What God has planned for you may or may not be the same thing. So remember, take it to the Lord.
  5. Seek to create, not compete. Everyone is unique. We all have our talents, things we are good at. Let’s use that to create something awesome, instead of always competing to be the best. Sometimes things turn out better when we work together.
  6. Just be you. You are enough, just as you are, right now. You were created to be who you are, not who someone else is. God created you in His image. Embrace it, be confident in knowing, there is only one you.

The Intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant.  We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift. Albert Einstein

Purposeful

purposeful

Living life should always have purpose. Some kind of meaning. No matter who you are. I don’t just mean as a mother, or a wife. You need to figure out who you are and live your life to the fullest. I believe in living each day with intention and purpose. Live a purpose driven life. What does that look like? How can one live purposefully each day?

There are five steps that can help you succeed at this.

  1. Live in the present moment. Many people are either regretting what happened in the past or worrying about the future. God has a plan for you. It isn’t up to you to know His plan. It is your job to live according to His Will for you. Once you start living in the here and now you will soon see what it is God wants for you.
  2. Focus on one thing. As we live day-to-day we often catch ourselves multi-tasking, trying to accomplish more than one thing at a time. This often leads to stuff not getting done correctly and sometimes having to do a task over in order to get it the way it is supposed to be. If we slow down and do one thing at a time, we will get it done and save time in the process. Life doesn’t have to be so hectic and rushed all the time. We get more stressed when we thing it all has to be done at once.
  3. Make changes today, not tomorrow. I was at my daughter’s youth group retreat this weekend. For 24 hours these teens learn how to be godly men and women. It was amazing, eye-opening, to  see how these kids choose to spend that 24 hours. No phones, up at 5:00 am to read their Bible and get the most out of this time. At the very end the youth pastor asked them to write three things down they took away from the retreat. I have three kids that were and they each took something different away. They were asked to make a goal. They each made a different goal. But, they were all told to begin right away, don’t wait. If you are planning to make a change, do it now, don’t wait.
  4. Be of service to others. This is something my church is adamant about. Jesus came to serve, not be served. He washed the feet of His disciples. I am a children’s leader at my church and I absolutely love it. I love teaching as much as I can to the younger generation about Jesus and what He did for them, how much He loves them. I went with my oldest daughter to Soles for Jesus. We sorted shoes to send over to Africa. They often do not have money to purchase shoes. Along with these shoes for their feet they receive the Gospel. That is truly amazing. People from here got to Africa, wash these people’s feet and give them a pair of very much-needed shoes. It was humbling to know we were the last people to touch these shoes that were going there with such a powerful message.
  5. Practice. We need to put our intentions into practice. I intend to do yoga tomorrow before my Bible reading and devotion. That means I have to get up earlier, get ready and do my yoga. Then I have to do my readings and devotion, before 6:00 am, when the first child of the day will arrive. If there is an area that you feel led to grow in then you must practice it everyday. Not here and there or whenever you feel like it. It has to be everyday, in order for it to become second nature or habit.

These five steps seem easy enough to follow, but I can tell you they can be hard. On days that you just don’t want to do life, you have to get up, be intentional and purposeful.

Renewal

renewal

Today it is on my heart to share with you the five steps to renewing your mind, biblically. I find the Bible to be not only inspirational but extremely empowering as a woman. I love to read about all God wants us to do, for ourselves, our families and for Him. Many people think the Bible is sexist, man driven and inspired. That is not true. First of all, the Bible is the inspired Word of God. Meaning, He chose what was to be put in it. Yes, other men put the words to paper but He spoke them. Second, there are some amazing women in the Bible, Ruth, Esther, Mary, the list goes on. God has expectations of us. The question is, will you follow them or follow how society tells you to behave and live your life?

Step 1: Ask the Lord to guard and direct your mind. Our minds are the place of our intellect, reasoning and intentions. Behavior begins in our minds, as does transformation. They way we think will determine how each day of our lives turn out. We often don’t look to Jesus for protection, direction and oversight of our minds. This is something we need to start our day praying about. Jesus, help me focus on where You want my mind-set today. Amen.

Step 2: Recognize the source of self-focused and self-defeating thoughts. Our adversary is crafty, he is smart and he is always against us and the Lord. He creeps into our thoughts often. Placing things there to disarm us. We are constantly at battle spiritually. We must pray. Confess. Read the Bible. Pray more. This is the only way to keep our thoughts on God, keep Satan far from us. Fight the good fight for our lives. We must recognize the enemy, and fight him with the power of God’s truth and through the Scriptures.

Step 3: Replace self-focused thinking with a God-focused mindset. It takes work to focus our minds on Jesus. It is hard. Our minds often wander to wherever it wants to go, instead of where it should go. It takes practice, training, daily. It isn’t something that is automatic. We must nurture our minds and focus on where we want it to go. A great verse to help with this is Colossians 3:1-2 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

Step 4: Rest in the truth that you are accepted in Jesus Christ. Pray for the Lord to protect our minds. I mentioned this earlier. It is important to pray each and every day for Him to protect our minds. It is also good to rest in Him. There will be successful days as well as unsuccessful days. It is something we can work on each day. I challenge you to rest in knowing you are His and He is yours, forever. He wants you to be successful but will not give up on you when mistakes are made. After all, He created us to make mistakes so we rely on Him as much as possible, in all things.

Step 5: Repeat steps 1-4 daily. There is no fear in God’s love. When we feel afraid or defeated we can trust in God’s love. It will never fade away. He loves us, forever. Ultimately, He would like for us to be more like Jesus. His thoughts never deviated from the Father. He was always in fellowship with Him. We can strive for that but can we accomplish that? Probably not, we are not perfect. God created us to need Him. He created us to search for Him, to feel the love He has for us. If we are in constant fellowship with Him then what would He have left to accomplish in us?

Tell me: How do you keep your mind from dwelling on unhealthy, untrue or distracting thoughts?

Radiant

radiant

What does it mean to be radiant. Being beautiful and being radiant are two totally different thing. You can make yourself beautiful on the outside by artificial and superficial means. Makeup, clothes, hair, shoes, surgery, the list goes on about how we can change our looks to be what society considers beautiful. But to be radiant? Is it obtainable and if so, how do you become radiant?

One of the things that sets a radiant woman apart from others is confidence. This is not confidence that exudes itself as arrogant or conceited. It isn’t based on anything she can do such as beauty, possessions, talent or popularity. Her confidence is found in Christ alone, what He has done for her and who she is in Him. A radiant woman is confident in Christ.

Next is beauty, not the beauty I mentioned that is artificial or superficial, but true inner beauty. This beauty comes from a beautiful heart, full of genuine love and kindness. Her beauty is not only seen but felt by all who come in contact with her. Her beauty is genuine and true. A radiant woman is beautiful on the inside.

Finally, the last trait I have for you this morning. She is joyful. Being joyful and being happy are two different things. Many people thing that if you are happy then you have joy but that isn’t true. Happiness is based on circumstances and material things, joy is found in the Savior. She goes to Him for joy when happiness is nowhere to be found. Joy flows out of her heart to others around her. A radiant woman is full of joy…for the LORD.

Personally, I know I am far from being all of these things all of the time. It is hard! There are days that I am good at it and feel radiant, other days, not so much. I feel drained, not willing to be anything I listed above. I fake it, sometimes well, sometimes not. We should pray each day that we have these traits, not only for the Lord but for ourselves and to be a light to others who need it. By becoming more radiant we can shine a light into the lives and hearts of others.

Worthy

worthy

Everywhere we look someone is telling us what we need to be or do in order to be worthy in the eyes of this society. We are told what to eat, how to dress, how much to workout. We are told when our bodies are considered beautiful and when we are wearing enough makeup to cover up our imperfections. We are told that in order to be worthy, we must be career driven, successful and have it all. If we are home with our kids, taking care of our home and husband than we are looked at as less. We are thought to have settled instead of thrived.

There is a dark truth about many women who find themselves at the top of that ladder. Sometimes, they are there alone. They have no husband, no family and no real friends. While the woman that stayed home has a group of friends by her side, a husband that comes home with flowers in his hand and kids to keep her company. Instead of forcing ourselves to be what is worthy in the eyes of the world. Why not focus on what makes us worthy to the Lord or even to ourselves. Get rid of that fear of judgment!

God told women of their worth in the Bible. He elevated our position and gave us a place of respect and honor within the Christian home. I know in my home my kids and husband look to be for strength, for answers. They come to me when something has gone wrong. The look to me for what is right, how to behave. My daughter knows what to look for in her future husband. My boys look to me to see how women should be treated so they know what to do. When my husband brings flowers, they see my tears well up and the hugs and kisses and thank yous. They know what he did was huge, it made me feel awesome and they want to be that one day. My youngest, who is almost two, looks to me for what is right and wrong. She looks to her dad when it wrong to see if he will let ehr get away with it. 😉 lol

So, what makes you valuable as a woman? Your godliness and virtue. When you are a Christ-center, Spirit-filled woman committed to following Jesus, you will be the godly woman that God desires you to be. Unlike the outside world, God says your value is based on your ageless inner beauty of your Christlike character and how you serve Him.

Wellness

spiritual_wellness_meditation-min_opt

Women are always worried about their health. Don’t get me wrong, it is important and it is something I take care of. I consider myself healthy. Healthy isn’t always super skinny. It is your best you. It means taking care of yourself mentally and even Spiritually. That is what I am writing about today, Spiritual Wellness. In our society, it is hard to put God first, talk about Him, live as Jesus did. Why is it so hard? Christians are judged harshly for our belief and our desire to follow the Bible. Many people see the Bible as unattainable, old school laws that do not relate to today. I am here to tell you the Bible relates to today 100%. God did not have His Words put to paper to just have them fade to the background of out lives.

I try to do my Bible readings each day, daily devotions and prayer journal. I absolutely love Proverbs 31 Woman devos. I usually post something I took from my morning in the word and post it on social media to try to help others put God in their lives. You need a daily dose, maybe more than that. People have told me that when I don’t make that post, which is more often than I would like, it hurts their day. The look for it each morning to start their day. I tell them where I get it from and that I get it emailed to me each day for free. I get told that they are too busy to read a full devo or email but they love the verses, pictures and mini devo I do.

My teens attend youth group twice a week as well as any activities, retreats, and serving in the community they may do. Just recently my church held Gather to Scatter, which is where the teens gather together at church then scatter into the community to serve others. My daughter went to Soles for Jesus, amazing way to serve others in countries like Africa who have little to no access to shoes. In America, we often do not understand how important shoes are to one’s health but they truly are a very needed item around the world. It’s amazing that these shoes will be shipped and distributed along with the Gospel to people who have never heard it. One of my sons went to a grocery store to help distribute flyers and collect food for our local food pantry. They collected 6,000 pounds!! I think an important part of one’s spiritual life is servitude. Jesus came to serve others not to be served. It is humbling to be a part of the solution and know my children a contributing to society.

I lead fifth grade girls each Wednesday to know more about God, the Bible, Prayer, and what Jesus did for us. My hope is that I will be the influence they need to want to know more about Jesus so they will grow to live Spiritually healthy lives. I also get the privilege of leading Kindergartners and first graders on Sunday mornings. These little ones are just starting in the journey of knowing who Jesus is, what He did for them and His great love for them. They have so many questions, sometimes difficult ones but I try my best to always answer them. I do not take my serving positions lightly. I work on my lesson plans each week for them diligently. I receive the greatest payment of all when a child comes to know the Lord because I helped them understand His great love for them.

My prayer for everyone reading this blog is to ask questions, get answers, read your Bible as much as you can, it will turn daily. Come to know the Lord, pray, know His love for you. Then your Spiritual wellness will be coming together, which will help your wellness as a whole. Have an awesome day ladies (and any gentlemen).
